Two years ago, Dr. Gloria Horsley and Dr. Frank Powers, both nationally recognized relationship therapists, met on SilverSingles in Frank’s hometown of Scottsdale, Arizona. SilverSingles is thrilled to share their love story in their own words below.
I was getting ready to retire from my practice at 79 years old after a good run at a profession that I loved
We are also excited to share that the couple, a.k.a. “The Golden Dating Doctors,” co-authored a new book called Open to Love: The Secrets of Senior Dating, which features their SilverSingles love story as well as tips and tricks on how those ages 60+ can not only survive but thrive in the world of dating. The book is available on Amazon for pre-order now and debuts on Valentine’s Day, .
Following the passing of my husband of 60 years, I was open to finding love again. I began dating someone, but after a failed dating experience, I decided to write an advice book for widows. I googled “senior dating” and SilverSingles popped up on the screen. I clicked on the link, inputted my credit card info, filled out my profile, and I was on my way!
I tailored my profile to showcase my passions and to relay that I was looking for a life companion and not just a dream guy, unlike my younger self. I enjoy playing golf and wanted someone who shared my passion. Additionally, since I take care of myself, I wanted to find a man who does the same – someone who is financially responsible and has planned for his future.
Knowing that my ex-boyfriend had some success with online dating, I decided that a chapter of the book would be dedicated to this subject
Frank was the second person I met through SilverSingles, and I was excited because he was a psychologist like me, as well as an artist.
